The Great Cory Library Fieldtrip! Blog 48, Rhodes University, Cory Library, NELM

Mon 1 Sept: Rhodes University has supported the fieldwork visit reported on in these blogs through a Mellon visiting scholarship awarded to me, for which grateful thanks. Our thanks also to the University of Edinburgh for covering travel expenses for both Andrea Salter and myself (with Sue Wise funding herself), which has enabled a number of papers and presentations to be given. We are in addition very pleased to acknowledge support, help, advice, great meals, lovely flowers and some truly excellent jokes from Prof Paul Walters of the English Department.

Many thanks in an intellectual sense are also due to the wonderful Cory Library and its excellent staff, custodians of collections of great richness and enormous human value. During this visit, there has been no time to work on collections held at NELM (National English Literary Museum). However, in the recent past  I have spent much there working on its Olive Schreiner and other literary collections, which are both amazing and unique. Many many thanks to all who work at Cory and also old friends at NELM from the three of us.

Au revoir!
