‘The trace’ is central to the Whites Writing Whiteness project. Traces are what remains. They include letters, wages-slips, photographs, shopping lists, appointment diaries, sketch-maps, draft Wills, notes and copies… And how best to analyse them? They need to be considered in their individuality, and also what they add up to. New traces are added on a routine basis and there are four new ones to draw to attention.
