Plato’s Epistles and Letterness

The remaining sections of a new working paper on Plato‘s epistles are now available, with sections 1 and 2 from previous blogs being added to by sections 3 and 4. It can be accessed via The Hub or else by clicking the link here: – pdfPlato letters.

This working paper explores issues which are crucially important for the WWW project, regarding provenance, transcription, translation and related topics. These come into focus in interesting ways when explored regarding these ancient letters written by Plato. It also considers issues concerning whether these letters are genuine or not, a question which it argues can be bracketed in favour of focusing on structural matters rather than those of content.
