Olive Schreiner resurgent

Regarding the devastating Cape Town fire and destruction of the Jagger library and its collections, many emails have been received saying ‘it’s like a death’ and feelings of bereavement predominate. It’s still too close to the event to review what this means in terms of future WWW research, for so many connected collections have literally bitten the dust. So instead of considering the consequences of this, I have instead returned to the chapters written so far of a proposed book considering Schreiner’s writing and ideas overall and presenting them in a sociological context. So while many of the remnants of ‘her’ are shown in the dust of photographs of the Jagger reading room, another version of ‘her’ is taking shape elsewhere. Three written, and four to go. Long live Schreiner studies!
