From the BBC: South African Elections & Charting Divides after Apartheid

For a good but quite depressing overview of South Africa on the eve of this year‘s elections, see this BBC report. It  brings together and compares 1990s and 2010s statistical information about poverty, un/employment, utilities availability, sex crimes, the murder rate, attacks on foreign nationals, all factors which are important components of the quality of life. Over this 25 year period some things have improved, others not so much, and the stark disparities between the richest and poorest remain and in some respects have increased.
