A weekly round-up

A weekly round-up

A PS to the blog last week is that there was no Schreiner occurrence the day after it was posted, but on every day thereafter there has been such an occurrence, right up to yesterday! These include a request about photographs, a query about one of Schreiner’s writings, a request for a PDF of an article, and a suggestion that name attribution on a small group of Schreiner letters is incorrect (and indeed it is, so much gratitude to the person who contacted me).

What other things has the last week held? Finishing the Elias article much mentioned in these blogs has been a particular focus, around doing the final edits and also re-considering how best to visualise the very different figurational connections of Kate and David Forbes. Alongside this joint activity, I have been doing revisions on another article, concerned with a group of recently available Schreiner letters and what these together with some other material tell of her pacifism and her writing about this in the last few years of her life. Then there is the small matter of the courses I teach, undergraduate dissertations being supervised, PhD research being supervised as well. In addition, a presentation about how to interpret six documents drawn from the Whites Writing Whiteness data and about ‘race’ has been started, intended for a school sixth-form history group.
