The Great Cory Library Fieldtrip! Blog 49, Au Revoir, and Now the Work Begins!

Monday 1 Sept: Sue and I are still en route home, presently extremely dischevelled in Frankfurt airport and waiting for a ten something flight to Manchester; she is talking total flopout after our nearly 7 weeks of working 10 or 11 hour days, whike I’m thinking ‘the work starts soon!’. This is a different kind of work, of course. It involves, firstly, the work of cleaning all the files (of notes per sub-project, and of File Maker databases per sub-project) and then completing the FM databases; and secondly, the work of selection, analysis, abstraction. This is what goes into cultural assemblage, this is what the work of making it is in its bedrock. It is its hidden labour, it is in fact its equivalent of domestic labour. There will be further, but more occasional, blogs about this, and as ever these will have an emphasis on the methodological aspects of WWW research. However, the daily blog ceases as of now, and a different kind of writing will soon commence. Watch this space!
